Tags are used to group assets, e.g. Database servers or Datacenter location 1. An asset can have any number of tags.
Examples what tags can be used for are:
- Type of software
- Physical location
You can build a tag hierarchy by using the parent tag function. By doing this you can group tags.
Static and dynamic tags
A static tag is a tag that you manually apply to one or more assets. A dynamic tag is a tag applied and removed to assets based on a rule. These rules are found under Asset Manager > Tags > Tag rules. As examples you can apply a tag based on the operating system, or based on an open port.
Business risk and tags
You can set business risk for each tag. If an asset has more than one tag the tag with the highest business risk will be applied. If a business risk is set on the asset, that business risk will be the actual one for that asset regardless of the business risk set on that are applied to the asset.
