How does the license limit work?

The license limit for OnPrem differs from our Cloud Service, for OnPrem we have added the option the set hard limits and soft limits on the license that lets us set a specific number of assets that can be added to your account -  both web applications and active/inactive IP’s.

Hard limits

If you have a total of 100 active IP’s and 100 inactive IP’s in your license agreement and you would proceed to start a scan on a larger network then your license - the first 100 active IP’s and 100 inactive IP’s will be scanned and the number of IP’s exceeding the license will not be scanned.

Soft Limits

If you have a total of 100 active IP’s and 100 inactive IP’s in your license agreement, soft limits can be set to a certain amount that you can "exceed" your current license. If you have +10% in your license agreement and you would proceed to start a scan on a larger network then your license - the first 110 active IP’s and 110 inactive IP’s will be scanned and the number of IP’s exceeding the license will not be scanned.

Once the limit is reached according to your agreement you will not be able to add any more assets to your account.
