How are platform, software, and vulnerability tests updated?
Sofware updates
Cloud deployment
New versions are released on average once every month. During this period, the system may be unreachable when the new version is applied.
Scans are normally not affected and continue to run during the update. Under certain circumstances, the scans may be paused during the release, and then continue to run when the release is completed.
The time it takes to perform the release can vary, but it typically takes up to 60 minutes. During this time, the platform might not be available, and scans might be paused.
On-prem deployment
On-prem updates are usually done through a new image, followed by an upgrade package. During the time of the upgrade, the platform will not operate.
Scanner Appliance
Updates are done automatically quite frequently. The time it takes for an upgrade is typically up to 60 minutes. During this time, the Scanner Appliance will not be able to perform scans. Scans that were running are put on hold and automatically started and finished when the upgrade is ready.
Vulnerability test updates
Network and web app scans (cloud and on-prem)
The system updates signatures to identify vulnerabilities on a daily basis. This is done to ensure that we are scanning for the most recent vulnerabilities that are known so that you, as a customer, can identify these as quickly as possible.
During this update, the scans that are currently running may be paused for a few minutes. Once the updates are completed, the scans will continue to run.
The update starts at 6 a.m. (GMT+2).
