PCI DSS ASV

PCI DSS ASV (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Approved Scanning Vendor) refers to a security vendor authorized by the PCI Security Standards Council to perform external vulnerability scans for organizations that handle payment card data. ASVs conduct quarterly scans of internet-facing systems to identify security weaknesses that could expose cardholder data.

These scans are a mandatory requirement for many merchants and service providers under PCI DSS compliance. The ASV validates whether vulnerabilities meet PCI passing criteria and provides official scan reports. Using an ASV helps organizations identify and remediate security gaps, reduce the risk of data breaches, and demonstrate compliance with PCI DSS requirements.
