Getting started

What are the general basics for using the Device Agent?

This article describes the basics for using our lightweight endpoint agent, called Device Agent.

When can I use an agent?

The agent (Device Agent) can be used in these scenarios:

What is the difference between Device Agent and Scanner Appliance?

The Device Agent is used to find vulnerabilities in Windows computers and servers, using a lightweight endpoint agent. The Scanner Appliance is a scan noded installed in your local network. The Scanner Appliance can scan everything within its reach, like within a specific network segment, without the need for additional software.

Can I use both Device Agent and Scanner Appliance?

Yes, a combination will provide a more complete understanding of vulnerabilities.

Autnethicated scanning

Authenticated scanning will allow for the Scanner Appliance to authenticate and scan a server locally. Authenticated scanning supports multiple operating systems, like Windows and Linux.

Can I use Device Agent, Scanner Appliance and perform authenticated scanning?

Yes, this combination will provide a more complete understanding of vulnerabilities.

What is not supported using an agent?

  • We don't support agents using on-premise deployment.
  • We currently don't support other operating systems than Windows.
