How do I configure OnPrem from the first start up?

Console configuration

When you start your virtual machine, you will be directed to the configuration user interface displayed within the virtual machine console.

From here, you will be required to configure the basic settings of the instance. The minimum settings to apply is the network configuration:

  • Static IP Address or DHCP.

Service start-up
After applying the correct network configuration can take 1-2 minutes before all services are started. You can view the status of these in the status section.

From this interface, you can also:

  • Reboot the instance.
  • Restart services.
  • View the status of the instance.

Web administration 

Once done with the network configuration, you can proceed to the web administration user interface. This is the primary interface for managing the configuration of the running instance.

Make sure to avoid copying spaces.

License activation 

Holm Security OnPrem requires a valid license to be applied before it can be used. The license consists of the
following properties that define how you can use the product:

  • Expiration date
  • Max number of Systems assets allowed (Active/Inactive)
  • Max number of Web application assets allowed (Active/Inactive)

For the initial setup of the system, you will need to upload a valid license file (.lic) via the OnPrem Admin web
interface.
The license activation is performed online against Holm Security central license service. Make sure you have
opened network access in order for the activation to be completed.
You will not be able to use the product without an activated license.

A license can only be activated once. After that, it will be linked to the on-premise system it was activated on. 


Proceed to the license section, upload a new license, and activate it.

Organizer and Security Center

Organizer:

The system setup is now completed, and services are ready.

To receive the user activation email
This requires a working email / SMTP configuration, as an activation email will be sent out to the primary user of the new account.

Scanner Appliance

At least one Scanner appliance is required within a Security Center account to perform scans.
